The Classic Cinemas

Melbourne, VIC

Eddie and Lindy Tamir's first cinema, bought in 1997 — the foundation of what's now Moving Story Entertainment, the family's four-cinema portfolio. Ten auditoriums plus a summer rooftop screen and Classic Southside, a year-round music and comedy room. The David Herman Theatre, opened in 2012, pays tribute to the Yiddish Theatre that once ran from this site. Permanent home of the Jewish International, Children's International, and Europa! Europa film festivals. Frank Richardson designed the 1911 building.
