The House Paddock
East Coast Tasmania, TAS
Fiona and Scott Auton both come from farming families and run The House Paddock on Scottsdale's main street as a deliberate launch-pad for North East Tasmania's small producers — the makers, growers and creators trying to turn a side-hustle into something more permanent. Three operations under one roof: a grocer stocking Tasmanian deli and pantry lines, a homewares section with local artist work, ceramics and Tasmanian body products, and a cafe doing daily ciabattas, focaccias, winter soups and toasties with homemade cakes from the kitchen. The team are also informal travel guides for travellers heading on to the Bay of Fires or up to the East Coast. Seven days, 7am–5pm.
