Mary and Guy Stratford spent two decades growing fruit in Coonawarra before a surplus too good to sell prompted their first release — a cabernet sauvignon called The Duke — in 2012. Winemaker Peter Douglas, formerly senior winemaker at Wynn's, does the work biologically farmed vineyards deserve. The cellar door and wine bar sits in Naracoorte, close enough to the source to feel like it.
