Tedesca
Mornington Peninsula, VIC
Brigitte Hafner ran Gertrude Street Enoteca in Fitzroy for over a decade before moving to the Peninsula to open Tedesca with her partner Patrick Ness. The model is explicitly Italian agriturismo — a 30-seat osteria where the menu turns on the wood-fired oven and open grill, "whole animal" cooking, and local produce, attached to a farm stay (Graceburn House) sleeping eight across two buildings. The wine list is Hafner's: eclectic, opinionated, with room for trends, debates and the occasional controversy. Two Hats from The Good Food Guide; 4.5 from John Lethlean. Lunch Mon and Fri-Sun; dinner Saturday only. Book the stay and the meal in the same flow to lock in a sitting.
