The Cape Liptrap lighthouse lens — 1.3 metres high, fully restored — stops you at the door. From there: goldfields bullion stored in an 1861 bank vault, the wreck of the paddle steamer *Clonmel*, and a Breeches Buoy Rocket Lifesaving system the Smithsonian rates as one of few intact examples worldwide. Run entirely by volunteers, on Victoria's South Gippsland coast.
