The Ayubi family left Kabul in 1987 and opened Parwana in Torrensville in 2009, cooking the Afghanistan they carried with them. Matriarch Farida Ayubi runs the kitchen on recipes handed down through generations: kabuli palaw under glistening carrot and nuts, kofta challaw, steamed mantu dumplings. Diners are received like guests in a home, walls hung with family photographs. The BYO proceeds feed the homeless.
