Djakanimba Pavilions

Darwin & Top End, NT

The Djakanimba Pavilions sit in the heart of Wugularr (Beswick), a Jawoyn community 100 kilometres east of Katherine — four architecture-award-winning elevated rooms run by Djilpin Arts, the community's Aboriginal-owned arts and cultural enterprise. Founded by the late Balang T. E. Lewis, actor and Wandarrang man (Jimmie Blacksmith, King Lear), Djilpin runs the adjacent Cultural Centre, the Walking with Spirits Festival, and an artists' shop. Camping sites are also available. Staying here supports local employment and community enterprise.
