Alana Douvros trained at California College of the Arts, where her BFA paired ceramics with metal arts, and now makes gemstone jewellery in Sydney. What sets the work apart is the lapidary: she cuts and polishes many of the stones herself before setting them in recycled sterling silver and gold-filled, working from raw uncut gems, fossils and shells. The result is a run of one-off pieces in malachite, ocean jasper and watermelon tourmaline, sold online and at Sydney markets.
