Built in 1984 from rough-sawn tallowwood and spotted gum, this volunteer-run museum sits within metres of the Gympie region's first sawmill site from the 1860s. The multilevel building — with its sunken demonstration pit and mezzanine viewing — comes alive on Fridays when the large saw runs, the blacksmith works, and the steam boiler crew fires up.
