Three and a half kilometres down a red dirt road through state forest, at 900 metres above sea level, Topper's Mountain makes small-batch wines from volcanic ash and basalt soils above the MacIntyre Valley. Their Tempranillo Blanco — a variety they claim to pioneer in Australia — and a textural 2023 Gewurztraminer give a sense of what this altitude and geology can do.
