Regional Australia's first dedicated youth writing centre occupies a former shop at 126 Margaret Street. Run by the Child Writes Fund — a registered charity — it houses workshops, an exhibition gallery, and the Explorer's Emporium, a shop stocked with products made by children. The fictional explorer Humboldt Montague Taylor haunts the space in clues and installations, giving the whole thing a pleasing strangeness.
