The BoatHouse

The Boat House sits on the absolute water-lapping edge of Lake Burley Griffin in Grevillea Park, Barton. James Souter owns the restaurant; John Leverink runs the kitchen as chef and business-owner. The food is modern Australian, the menu changing daily — dinner runs as a four-course set with bread and a snack opening, lunch as a two- or three-course prix fixe. Recent dishes have included scallop tortellini with salmon roe and Warrigal greens, smoked duck with Pedro Ximenez cherry, White Pyrenees lamb with Tasmanian walnut. The wine list has held three glasses from Gourmet Traveller Wine for three consecutive years, with separate accolades for the ACT wine listing. Lunch Friday to Sunday; dinner Thursday to Saturday.
