Shupiwe Chongwe's stoneware practice spans sculptural forms and functional ware, shaped by a lineage that runs from a great-great-grandmother potting in Zambia to her father, Njalikwa Chongwe of Fremantle's Zinongo Gallery. She works in stoneware, terracotta and wild clay, using traditional firing methods to produce erratic surface patterning. Workshops run from her East Fremantle studio; her most recent solo show, *Bedforms*, was presented with Perth Festival.
