Richard and Florence Statham moved from fine wool at Barraba to Canowindra's red clay soils in 1996, planting 20 hectares of vines, 10 of olives, and half a hectare of figs along the Belubula River. Three generations later, the farm runs on biodynamic and Yeomans methods, sells preservative-free wine under labels painted by Florence, and sleeps visitors in straw-bale houses the sons built themselves.
