Sixty-four metres of steel dish has been pointed at the sky outside Parkes since 1961. Murriyang, as the telescope is now known, still runs around the clock, still draws astronomers from across the world, and still picks up signals the human eye will never see. The visitors centre puts you close enough to understand the scale.
