Andrew Mountford, a trained horticulturist, planted fifteen acres here in 1987, choosing Pemberton for its cool climate and forest soils. Nearly four decades on, son Saxon — a qualified wine scientist — works alongside him on certified organic, minimal-intervention wines. The property also runs WA's first cidery, Tangletoe, and sequesters more carbon than it produces. Sue Mountford manages the cellar door and art gallery.
