Built in 1852 by Arthur Hardy — lawyer, grazier, and South Australia's first Grand Master of the Freemasons — Mount Lofty House was razed in the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires and rebuilt from historic photographs. Now a boutique hotel, its restaurant Hardy's Verandah runs a four-to-seven-course degustation on the original verandah, looking out over Piccadilly Valley.
