Lyric’s Underground

A purpose-built 170-capacity basement music room beneath Lyric's Bar on a Maylands laneway, opened in 2019 by Perth father-and-son team Michiel and Konrad de Ruyter, who spent seven years finding the site and two building it — the basement tunnelled in after the slab was laid. Ticketed gigs run rock to acoustic, jazz to soul; the room has hosted Steve Kilbey, Katie Noonan, Kim Salmon and Dom Mariani. Upstairs, the bar pours local taps with free laneway music Friday to Sunday.
