Three cottages — Maple, Rosewood, and Quandong — occupy a five-acre Blackall Range property that Scottish timber worker Hamilton Muirhead first claimed in 1906. The original Hoop Pine homestead still stands. A 300-year-old White Fig anchors the garden; koalas and sugar gliders occupy the escarpment below. The same volcanic soil feeds citrus, avocado, and macadamia trees that replaced Muirhead's strawberry and banana orchard.
