Built between 1883 and 1885 on the Wollondilly River, this is the only complete steam-powered municipal water supply remaining in its original location in the Southern Hemisphere. The original Appleby Bros. Beam Engine and Galloway Boilers still run on scheduled steaming days — live machinery, not a recreation. On quieter days, the engines sit silent but enormous.
