Gorman Arts Centre

A former hostel dating to 1924, Gorman has housed Canberra's arts community since 1981. The heritage buildings — a short walk from Canberra Centre — hold dance studios, performance spaces and a contemporary gallery, with working artists occupying studios alongside. The mix of established practitioners and emerging talent gives it an atmosphere distinct from a conventional gallery: people are here to make things, not just show them.
