Design Tasmania

Founded in 1976 by Gary Cleveland, this not-for-profit on the corner of Brisbane and Tamar streets is the only institution of its kind in Australia running a dedicated wood design collection. Eighty pieces, acquired biennially, trace the arc of contemporary Tasmanian woodwork — and have toured from Launceston to Beijing, Helsinki and New York. The store and rotating galleries draw 100,000 visitors a year.
