Adelaide's great counter-cultural pub, on Grenfell Street and trading since the 1850s — "the Cranker" to everyone. Original bands play nearly every night across two stages, most of it free: punk, metal, hardcore, indie and country, plus front-bar acoustic sets, Honky Tonk Tuesdays and weekly comedy. International and touring acts thread through a calendar that rarely goes dark. In 2024 the South Australian parliament passed a law to save it from demolition and protect it in perpetuity. A genuine institution.
