Bird's Basement

A basement jazz room off William Street in the Melbourne CBD, founded in 2016 by musician Albare and modelled on New York's Birdland, launched with the support of Ravi Coltrane. The format is dinner and a show; the programming is serious — international names like Julius Rodriguez alongside Australian players and songbook tributes, played at close quarters for an audience that came to listen. The Jazz Corner Hotel sits above it.
