The assistant keepers' cottages stand on the Cape Byron headland, the most easterly point of the Australian mainland, restored and let by NPWS. By day the lighthouse draws crowds; after sunset they leave and the headland is yours — beaches, coastline and the light above. Three bedrooms, sleeps six, with views the length of the coast. Byron Bay is a half-hour walk down the hill, or a short drive.
