The Alice Springs Telegraph Station is the birthplace of the town, founded in 1872 as a repeater station on the Overland Telegraph Line that linked Australia to the world. Its beautifully restored stone buildings beside the Todd River spring tell the story of communication, exploration and the opening of Australia's centre.
