Frances McMahon paints Australian native birds in watercolour from Canberra, working in such fine detail that some passages can only be read under a magnifying glass. Self-taught and painting birds since childhood, she turned professional in 2021 and has twice won the Holmes Prize for realistic Australian bird art. Australia Post commissioned her to illustrate a set of four stamps of rare and endangered species. Her original paintings are represented by Morpeth Gallery, alongside prints, cards and puzzles.
